Closed for Summer RejuvinationMI Lab Rescue volunteers are closing the Rescue for the summer to recharge their batteries, spend time with their fur kids, and raise funds to enable them to rescue more Labs.
Owner surrenders, please consider training options first, and then other rescues to help your Labs. Even though things are quiet right now, feel free to submit foster and adoption applications. We'll be very busy in the fall, and that will allow us to hit the ground running. Thank you for the continued support, and we will see you in the fall. Adoptable DogsPuppies and dogs available for adoption will be posted here when they are ready for adoption. In order to meet and greet available dogs the application must be pre-approved. Pre-approval can be granted after a successful home visit and veterinary reference. Pre-approval does not obligate you to adopt the dog you meet and greet. Adoption will not take place until we have found a good fit for both you and the dog.

Is a lab the right dog for you?
The Labrador Retriever has a strong hunting instinct and loves to roam. They are active, but calm and obedient if trained properly. Swimming and retrieving are the favorite activities of this breed, and they make good hunters in the field and wonderful swimming companions. Labrador Retrievers are keen on learning, affable types that get along well with other animals, children, and just about anyone they meet. They are however, fond of eating. This trait can be their downfall, for an overfed Labrador is a very dull dog. Regular exercise is a must to keep them fit. On a required exercise scale, Labs rank at the top with a 10 along with Vizslas and Weimaraners. The Labs gregarious temperament makes them a top choice for families, but not an especially good choice for guard dog duty.

Foster a DogOur Foster Families help us provide the best possible in-home care for all our dogs until they are read to be adopted and play a very important role in MI Lab Rescue’s success rate in finding “furever” homes.
All veterinary care, food, and other animal supplies are provided by MI Lab Rescue. Fostering can last from a few days to several months, depending on the needs of the animals and the availability of the Foster Family. |
