MI Lab Rescue is still on Summer Break; however we need your help with Bailey. Bailey is 6 years old, neutered male, up to date on shots, and HW -. Bailey came from a sad situation where his human BFF had a medical issue that he couldn't care for Bailey any longer and came into MI Lab. Bailey went to his new home 7 months ago where he is genuinely loved, but he is anxious and now that there is a little person, and his new BFF works and goes to school a lot he won't have the opportunity to really work on his anxiety. He has not shown any aggression towards the baby, but of course we all want to avoid that even being a thought.

Because Bailey is loved dearly his BFF would like to help him into a new home with adults that will continue to help Bailey, and provide him with a happy life that allows his anxiety to subside. Bailey is currently on a puppy prozac and his current vet and behaviorist believe that will need to continue.

Bailey enjoys car rides like no tomorrow, his first BFF took him everywhere, and as you can tell from the photo he wouldn't mind being your co-pilot. He would make those that drive a lot (semi) the best companion ever! He needs a buddy! Exercise is the key to Bailey's happiness. This guy needs daily walks minimum, and will love you for it.

A behavior that Bailey needs to continue working on is quick touch around his head, he has suffered severe ear infections his whole life, so for this reason if he needs to get off the couch for instance, we suggest using a lead vs. removing with your hands. Leading him off of furniture works well for Bailey. Quick movements seem to frighten Bailey.

If you are interested in more information about Bailey please contact his current BFF by email at ajmanor@mac.com . Bailey will always be a MI Lab Family member, but we do want what is best for him, and if that is moving him to a new adult home that is what we want for him.

Closed for the summer

MI Lab Rescue volunteers are closing the Rescue for the summer to recharge their batteries, spend time with their fur kids, and raise funds to enable them to rescue more Labs.

Owner surrenders please consider training options first, and then other rescues to help your Labs.

Even though things are quiet right now, feel free to submit foster and adoption applications. We'll be very busy in the fall, and that will allow us to hit the ground running.

Thank you for the continued support, and we will see you in the fall.

    Interested in Adopting?

The first step is for you to fill out an adoption application.  In order to meet and greet available dogs, the application must be pre-approved. Pre-approval can be granted after a successful home visit and veterinary reference.  Pre-approval does not obligate you to adopt the dog you meet and greet.  If it is not a match for you or them, adoption will not take place.
