Adoption feesADOPTION FEES:
(Payable by cash, credit card, or check) *Puppies and dogs $250 EVERY Lab we offer for adoption has already been spayed or neutered and given age-appropriate vaccines and screenings. All adoption fees go directly to MI Lab Rescue to help pay for medical expenses, spaying/neutering, and daily care. Rescuing a Lab usually costs between $300-$1000. As you can tell, we are not into rescuing to make money; we are saving Labs' lives. |
what you can expect
As we get applications for adoption we generally follow this process:
Here is where communication can be missed.... if there is more than one applicant that is pre-approved for adoption we try to set meet and greets in the order in which home visit approvals are made. This could mean that on said day 3 people are approved for the same rescue dog, and we do our best to set up meet and greets in order of completion of best fits.
It does NOT mean that the first meet and greet will be the adopter, if it is not a good fit with that rescue dog, we move to the next on the list. We HAVE to focus on what is best for the dog, or they are no better off than they were before rescue. This is not always comfortable to hear, but please understand we only want what is best for the dog. If you are pre-approved, we already know you will make a great adopter..it may just be with a different dog. If you are the first meet and greet for a dog you are NOT obligated to adopt either.
* If your meet and greet goes well and it's a fit, you may adopt on the spot, by completing the adoption contract and paying a minimal adoption fee
**we follow up and offer help/support for transitioning rescue dogs into their new family
* If your meet and greet does not go well, your application and pre-approval still stands, and you go in the line up for the next rescue dog to meet and greet, and so on.
