Meet Athena. She ran the streets of TN for a few years and the neighborhood fed her, but weren't able to take her in themselves. So, litter after litter Athena was forced to endure, and obviously ailment of heart worm and hip dysplaysia too...but that did not change her sweet demeanor, and when she got thrown in doggie jail, one of her supporters contacted us for help. Athena finished her heart worm treatment a short time ago, and is scheduled for spay and hip surgery in mid-May. The rescue is committed to Athena, and if she picks her furever home before the surgery that is quite ok--it is still covered 100% by the rescue. Athena loves to cuddle on the couch, and you might talk her into a slow, short walk; she mostly wants to be your bud and follow you wherever. Interested in adopting Athena? complete the application for adoption at: http://www.milabrescue.com/adoption-application.html and get the process started. We do require home visits, veterinarian reference checks, and meet-and-greets prior to adoptions. Questions--please contact us via email at milabrescue@gmail.com or via the contact form on our website. We are all volunteers and work full time...we will not be able to return phone calls quickly, so please email us.

Obviously, this sweet girl's vet treatments are much more costly than usual. Between spaying, surgery and HW treatments, her bills will total well over $1,000. If you would like to support this girl's treatment, please consider making a donation by clicking the button in the sidebar to the right. Thank you for considering sponsoring this sweet girl!

    Interested in Adopting?

The first step is for you to fill out an adoption application.  In order to meet and greet available dogs, the application must be pre-approved. Pre-approval can be granted after a successful home visit and veterinary reference.  Pre-approval does not obligate you to adopt the dog you meet and greet.  If it is not a match for you or them, adoption will not take place.
